Thomas Doerksen
February 24, 1999 - December 8, 2016
It is with profound sadness that family and friends announce the death of Thomas Matthew Doerksen on December 8, 2016 at the age of 17 years after a courageous battle with cancer.
At Thomas’ request, no funeral service will be held. Thomas wished that all who knew and loved him would honor his memory by attending a sporting event with someone they love.
Flowers and other material tributes are gratefully declined. In keeping with his passion, memorial donations for Thomas may be made to KidSport, an organization that seeks to remove financial barriers for all kids who want to play.
“In tears we saw you sinking
We watched you fade away.
You faced your task with courage,
Your spirit did not bend
And still you kept on fighting
Until the very end.
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you
And he whispered “Come with Me.”
So when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful, free from pain,
We could not wish you back
To suffer that again.”
