<div itemprop="description">LAFORTUNE, Peggie passed away peacefully in Edmonton on January 16, 2016 at the age of 88.<br />She was pre-deceased by husband A.V. (Vern) Lafortune; her one and enduring love.<br />Peggie was the matriarch of a large and vibrant family. She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters and three sons: Sandra (Brian) Smith, Heather Lafortune, Vernon (Laurie) Lafortune, Robin (Beverly) Lafortune, Wes Lafortune (Susan Wilmot).<br />She is also survived by her two sisters Eva Lehto, Rena Bye and brother Howard (Joan) Tebbutt; in addition to six grandchildren: Shannon (Jim) Stannard, Blair (Sandra) Smith, Karin Lafortune, Bradley Lafortune, Andrea (Cody) Murray, Sean Lafortune; and four great grandchildren: Riley, Kaden, and Abbey Stannard and Sebastian Murray.<br /><br />Peggie was born in Vegreville, Alberta on November 13, 1927 and spent the majority of her adult life in Edmonton. She was most content when family was nearby and together with Vern, her devoted husband of 49 years. She went about to create the life she had conceived of; one filled with family gatherings, celebrations and love. Peggie lived according to the time honoured principles of honesty and hard work; a legacy of integrity which now continues through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. <br /><br />A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Glenwood Funeral Home (52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peggie&rsquo;s memory to the Heart &amp; Stroke Foundation of Alberta or to a charity of one&rsquo;s choice. <br /><br /><br /><br /></div>
