Lawrence Godin
February 18, 1935 - May 26, 2016
On May 26, 2016, Lawrence Godin, formerly of Camrose and recently of Sherwood Park, passed away at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by 4 children, Kelvin (Kathy), Joann (Bob), Jeanette (Paul), and Robert (Sonja); 1 brother Richard Godin, and 2 sisters Lillian and Gerry; 9 grandchildren Joe, Taylor, Curtis, Alex, Tiez, Janelle, Chelsey, Braydon, and Brooke; 3 great-grandchildren, Callum, Lennon, Jacob, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lawrence was pre-deceased by 2 wives, Velma (1991) and Donna (2007). Lawrence was born and raised in Wetaskiwin. He joined the Army in 1951 and served in Korea with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. After an honourable discharge from the army he began a career with Farm Electric and then spent the next 4 decades with TransAlta Utilities before retiring in 1992. Lawrence had longstanding service with the Knights of Columbus, Minor Hockey and baseball, figure skating, and 60 years membership with the Camrose Canadian Legion. Lawrence was a dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was dedicated to the church, his family, and friends. His kindness and generosity shone through in his daily interactions with others.
