<div itemprop="description">Frieda Lydia (Stucklberger) Gruninger passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 18, 2016. She was 88 years old. Frieda was born on July 16, 1927 in Etmizl, Austria to Josef &amp; Juliana Stucklberger.<br />Frieda started her elementary school teaching career in 1947 at the North Battleford Catholic School. She eventually made her way in 1950 to the Pincher Creek Catholic School; in 1952 to St. Mary&rsquo;s First Nations&rsquo; School in Cardston; and in 1958 to Edmonton, where most of her years were at St. Bedes and Annunication Catholic Schools (Grades 1 thru 6), where she retired in 1990.<br />Frieda was an avid strudel maker, enjoyed knitting, was a Master Chess player and a well skilled prankster.<br />Frieda, beloved wife of the late Emery Gruninger (2010) is survived by her children;<br />Jacquline (Lloyd), Larry (Delia), Garry (Jean), Tom (Julie), Yvonne (Ron) and Shirlee.<br />Her grandchildren; Shauna (Jess), Darren (Lynn), Neil, Curtis, Lorraine, Bradley, Dustin (Paije), Brittney (Billal), Sara (Mike), and Megan (Sheldon). Her great-grandchildren; Zachary, Jordan, Noah, Gianna, Brogan, Maddison, Renise, Grace, Hanna, Logan, and Tomina. She also leaves behind one sister Laura Kerrison.<br /><br />A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 26 2016 at St. Michael-Resurrection Catholic Parish (10555-50th Street) in Edmonton at 2:00 p.m.<br />Interment will follow in Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Sherwood Park. <br /><br />A special thank you to all the Staff at the Edmonton General Hospice, Palliative Care Unit 9Y. <br /><br />In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to:<br />Palliative Care Unit 9Y<br />Mel Miller Hospice<br />Edmonton General Continuing Care Center<br />11111 Jasper Avenue<br />Edmonton, AB T5K 0L4<br /></div>
